DIY Sunburn Remedies

As June approaches and the sun burns strong, we all forget to reapply our sunscreen, miss a spot, or simply get lazy and end up with the dreaded sunburn.  If this happens to you, here are some quick DIY recipes to soothe it.

For Sunburn

Cold Tea Compress

Make a pot of mint tea or green and cool the tea.  Put the cold tea on towels and apply to burn.  The cold teabags are good for the burn too.  The tannic acid from tea will soothe the skin and ease the burn.

 Cold spritz

 Mix:

1/4 cup witch hazel

1/4 cup chilled mint tea

1/4 cup cold water

Put the mixture in a spritz bottle and spray your skin where it is burned.

Milk and Honey Bath

Draw a tepid bath and add

2 cups oatmeal

2 cups milk

1/4 cup honey

 Cucumber Milk

 1 Pureed cucumber

1/2 cup milk or heavy cream.

Brush directly on the skin.
