Le Metier De Beaute Eye Treatment

Today I am trying a new eye treatment from one of my favorite cosmetic companies, Le Metier de Beaute.  I wear a lot of eye makeup for my tv appearances and often I am up at the crack of dawn so my eyes need all the help and hydration they can get. In this video, I am trying Eye Duo which is an under eye treatment you can leave on for 15 minutes and then discard.  It is so easy, no mess, and feels amazing.  I highly recommend it if you are feeling sleep deprived.  You can ask for it at Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus.  If you mention you saw it on my blog, they will give you extra attention because they know I am a huge fan of their products.  Enjoy!

Beautiful Eyes And Lips for Mom and Daughter

Daughter

While your daughter may be dying to wear makeup, you are probably looking at that sweet 11 year old face and saying no way.  But, she is growing up and bonding over beauty is a key part of a great mother daughter relationship.  So, I have found the perfect compromise.  Eye Doll Chatter makes Kit Full of Kisses lip gloss kit and My Besties Pink Eye Shadow kit which will give your daughter the feeling of having her own special makeup but she will look as sweet and innocent as ever.

The Shadows are varying shades of pink, lightly scented and so so pretty.  Just brush them all over her lids and top it off with the white glitter.  She will love it and so will you because it is very sweet.  Then finish off with the lip glosses which come in three light colors and and three clear balms in different flavors.  Such a fun gift and just another way to spend time together  bonding and being girls.

Mom

Now that you have treated your daughter to some fabulous eyes and lips, its time for you.  My go-to eye makeup and lip glos is Le Metier De Beaute.  Why do I love it?  There is no better liquid liner applicator in my opinion.  Its virtually impossible to mess it up.  They have new midnight navy which is to die for.  So, how do you apply the perfect liquid liner?  My BFF Maria Maio, makeup artist to me and just about everyone else you see on tv gave me these great tips.

Eye liner....

Maria says, "The key to liquid liner is to insure there is no disconnect between the liner and the lashline."

1.  Start at the inner corner close to the lash line keeping the line "thinner at the inner" and sweep out across the lid gradually increasing the thickness to the outer corner.

2. How you finish the line at the outer corner is personal preference, I like a dramatic wing. T o achieve this look like a pro and insure your wings are even:

Take an index card the  cheap kind will do you want it to be pliable. Place under your bottom lashes and angle upward. Drag your brush out to the desired length.  The index card will protect the surrounding skin from product where you dont want it

Lip gloss...

1.  Base Apply a base like Burts Bees lip balm and blot. This will give your liner lips some slip and lipstick will go on evenly.

2.  Liner The purpose of liner is to keep your gloss from bleeding out NOT so you see contrast between liner and gloss.  Take a color similar to your lips and pencil in your desired shape.  Blend it well

3.  Apply your gloss

As your lip gloss fades throughout the day you will be left with a perfect stain not a ring around your lips!

Valentines Day Hair

I love Valentines Day.  There is nothing more romantic than styling my hair, putting on the perfect makeup, and of course a fabulous red dress.  So, I asked "Best of Boston” Salon Owner and Lead Stylist Marc Harris of Marc Harris Salon  to give me some great celeb inspired looks for the big day!

The Bouffant Ponytail

Spice things up with a youthful take on a classic

1.)    Separate your hair into two sections, top and bottom, and pin the bottom half off to the side and out of the way.

2.)    Using a strong hold hairspray, generously spray the underside of the top section.

3.)    Using a fine tooth comb, gently begin teasing the hair on the top section. The idea is to create ample volume and a canvas for the bouffant.

4.)    Once your hair is teased to the height you desire, flip the section back and release the bottom half of your hair that was pinned off to the side.

5.)    Using a small brush comb the teased area into the shape of a ponytail while grabbing the bottom half of your hair and pulling it all up into one ponytail.

6.)    Secure with an elastic band that’s in a similar hue to your hair color for easy blending.

7.)    To finish the look, spray the entire ponytail with a strong hold hairspray. Marc suggests Kerastase’s Double Force for a long-lasting finish.

Tousled Waves

A sexy style that’s both sophisticated and approachable

1.)    Prep hair in the shower by using a curl-boosting shampoo and conditioner. Marc swears by Kerastase’s Nutritive Bain Oleo Curl Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner.

2.)    On towel-dried hair, apply a volumizing product to ensure that your locks will cooperate once you dry and style them. Blow-dry, scrunching hair with your hands to add extra texture.

3.)    Once hair is dry, use a 2-inch barrel curling iron to add waves to your locks. Marc suggests taking small sections of hair and curling them around the iron instead of rolling the hair up to your head; this will create a looser, wavier-style curl.

4.)    Use your fingers to further loosen the curls and create a piece-y, more effortless feel to your hair.

5.)    Finish the style with a strong hold hairspray. Marc’s go-to is Kerastase’s Double Force.

Half Up, Half Down

Simple and easy to create, this look never goes out of style.

1.)    Begin this look by applying a texturizing spray on dry locks. Marc’s favorite is Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray because it builds body and absorbs extra oil at the hair’s root.

2.)    Once hair is prepped, take a fine tooth comb and create an even part down the center of your head. This look is meant to be symmetrical, so keep the part clean and straight.

3.)    Using a 1-inch barrel curling iron, lightly curl strategic pieces of hair to create a loose, beachy-style curl.

4.)    Using your fingers take around 3 inch sections of hair from either side of your face and pull them to the back of your head. Secure with an elastic that’s in a similar color to your hair.

5.)    If you want to add extra interest to this style, Marc suggests incorporating a jeweled barrette or clip to cover the elastic.

6.)    Generously spray hair with a light hold hairspray, followed by a few spritzes of a shine spray to complete the style.

Low Chignon

This elegant updo is the perfect complement to a strapless dress or off the shoulder top.

1.)    Begin this look in the shower by incorporating a smoothing shampoo and conditioner into your routine. Marc recommends Bumble and Bumble’s Curl Conscious line.

2.)    Give your hair a great blow dry by utilizing a large paddle brush to smooth locks as you dry them.

3.)    Part hair down the center of your head (it doesn’t need to be a super straight part, but there should be some definition).

4.)    Pull hair over to the desired side of your head and create two separate ponytails – holding one in each hand.

5.)    Tie the two ponytails into a loose knot at the nape of your neck.

6.)    Wrap one side around to the right and secure it with several hair pins. Repeat with the other side of hair and secure it with pins.

7.)    If needed, secure the completed bun with several additional pins and spray with a strong hold hairspray to complete the style.

Golden Globes Beauty

INSPIRATION: “It all started with the dress, Julianne showed me what she was wearing yesterday and I had 24 hours to figure out how to style her hair. Overall it was a ‘60s look – I have been watching a lot of Hitchcock lately. I took inspiration from the graphic clothing styles that are a trend this season paired with the hair I saw on the runways of Luis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs.

TIPS/TECHNIQUE: “First, I applied Living Proof Prime Style Extender, it gave me the sleek, smooth, healthy hair I needed for styling. I then applied No Frizz Weightless Styling Spray to the crown to keep the hair looking smooth. I dried the hair straight with a large round brush.  I created a deep side swept bang, and then pulled the hair back into a classic French twist with an uneven seam. Everything else about the look was so perfect and sleek that I wanted the seam to be a little deconstructed. Finally, I secured the look and added Firm Hold hairspray to keep the hair in place.

PRODUCTS: PRIME STYLE EXTENDER ($20), NO FRIZZ WEIGHTLESS STYLING SPRAY ($26), FIRM HOLD HAIRSPRAY ($24)

New Years Beauty Resolutions for 2013

Beauty Resolution #10:

Get that pink ombre out of your hair.  It is so 2012!

Beauty Resolution #9:

Scrub off that orange self tanner and go lighter and more bronze.

Beauty Resolution #8:

Grow out your Katie Perry bangs.

Beauty Resolution #7:

Get over your crackle nail polish and holliday nail art.

Beauty Resolution #6:

Throw out old crusty mascaras and liquid liners. Mascara only has a shelf life of 3 months, while liquid liner can last up to 6 months.

Beauty Resolution #5:

Clean all makeup brushes with baby shampoo or alcohol, and sharpen pencils. Also, clean makeup case to keep everything neat and clean!

Beauty Resolution #4:

Get more sleep to reduce puffiness and red eyes. Adults should get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep a night.

Beauty Resolution #3:

Drink more water! The average adult woman should drink at least 9 cups of water a day. How many cups have you had today?

Beauty Resolution #2:

Remove all makeup and mascara before bed each night. Sleeping with your makeup on can dry out your skin, clog your pores (which leads to break outs) and can lead to premature aging.

Beauty Resolution #1:

Moisturize your whole body after showers and baths with baby oil or cream. By moisturizing after a shower, your skin traps more surface moisture than if you were to apply it to totally dry skin.
